After 33 years of racing and 6 knee operations, I thought that my career as a competitive sprinter was over. I was having difficulty walking up and down stairs, and running even for a short time caused too much discomfort in my knees and lower back. I could not sprint anymore without pain and definitely could not train enough to get myself into competitive condition. After winning 10 World Masters track and field championships and breaking a dozen world records, I competed in my last international competition in 2005, at age 62.

Then one day, about 2012, I met Simon Peter (my ex-student from his high school days). He invited me to his Simon Acupuncture & Healing Clinic for a consultation because he wanted to see what he could do for me. He spent a long time with me, asking me questions, checking my wrist, looking into my eyes and assessing me in ways that I was not aware of. He put needles into, not only my knees and lower back, but also into many other parts of my body. He also used other modalities to stimulate the nerves and muscles around my knees.

I would continue to receive treatments from Simon Peter and in a few months I was able to do light training again. In 2013, I was able to compete in the World Masters Athletics Championships in Porto Alegre, Brazil. I only competed in one event, winning the bronze medal in the intermediate hurdles. It wasn’t at my best but just being able to compete against the best Masters athletes in the world was a great come back for me. I would not have been able to compete at this level if I had not received such great treatments.

I have continued to go back to Simon Peter for treatments for my knees, lower back and for other issues. My hope is that Simon Peter can keep me running and healthy until I enter my next age group … 75-79.

Simon Peter is extremely knowledgeable, always polite, friendly and professional.

I strongly recommend Simon Acupuncture & Healing Clinic

Acute / Chronic Pain
Sports Injuries

Athletes are vulnerable to many different types of injury. Muscle strength and movement often decreases with age. It is important to keep good body condition through regular exercise and a healthy diet. Regular acupuncture treatments can improve an athlete’s performance and reduce the risk of an injury’s recurrence.

Acupuncture is particularly helpful in the treatment of

Sprain: ankle, wrist, tennis elbow, hamstring, achilles tendonitis, knee

Trapezii muscle pain, residual neck and shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, lower back, sciatica

Motor Vehicle Accident Related Injury

Receiving acupuncture after a hospital treatment helps diminish inflammation, leading to a faster recovery and less pain.

POOR DIGESTION

Acupuncture can help strengthen the digestive system and increase the body’s natural metabolism.

Promoting growth for children and youth

Acupuncture is based on the theory that the body has an energy force running throughout it, and unobstructed robust and balance flow of this energy is essential to health. This energy force distribution can be further enhanced through acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. And accordingly, maintaining the maximum energy flow will lead to a child growing into his or her full physical potential.
